    Zumba

Everyone’s talking about it…have you tried it yet? ZUMBA! A revolution in both the fitness and the dance world, Zumba brings joy to all those who have samba stepped in the door! Two and a half years ago I walked into my first Zumba class. I had been working out on a semi regular basis (ok, not so regular), but Zumba I was not prepared for! The music was blaring, there were tons of people, and I could tell everyone was pumped. For the next hour I forgot about work, money, being a single mother, I forgot about every single worry…I moved around like I was in a dance club and had never felt so exhilarated in my life. Did I mention this was 9:30 in the morning?! I looked around at the end of class and saw that everyone else in that room had the same feeling I did. From that moment on, I knew I wanted to be a part of the Zumba movement!

Zumba is a Latin inspired dance fitness class. Bringing in flavors from all over the world, Zumba incorporates salsa, cumbia, samba, belly dancing, reggaeton, hip-hop and even a little rock n roll! It will not only give you one of the highest calorie burning work outs, but you will dance like there is no tomorrow.

When People ask, “Is Zumba for me?” The answer is “YES!” It’s not about following the moves perfectly, its not about coordination or rhythm, its about having an absolute blast and laughing. My biggest reward as an instructor is seeing the smiles and hearing the giggles during and after the class. If one person has had the feeling I had the first day I walked into a Zumba class, it’s worth it. By the way, I still have the feeling I did on day 1 with every class I teach or participate in!

Is Zumba just for adults? Even though adult Basic Zumba classes can be a little less age appropriate for our younger generation, Zumba has developed a style of dance tailored to children 4-13. In ZUMBATOMIC kids will not only follow easy but exciting kid friendly dance moves, but they will also learn about the culture behind it. Zumbatomic encourages kids to get in shape while having fun at the same time!!! Phys-Ed is offering a 6 week Zumbatomic Program. Look for flyers and check out the calendar. It starts Friday, April 13 at 4:15pm!

So check out the fitness calendar and come join myself and our other amazing Zumba Instructors for an awesome, unique experience!
